R.M. of Buckland council encouraging drivers to obey the signs
People travelling through the Rural Municipality (R.M.) of Buckland may be ending up on Santa’s Naughty List.
According to the last quarterly numbers from RCMP (July 1 to Sept. 30), there were 17 reported impaired drivers, compared to seven for the previous quarter.
Overall the majority of calls for service (2,129) were related to traffic (1,461). From those calls there were a total of 135 speeding tickets issued, and 242 charges laid.
At the R.M. council’s latest meeting Monday, Div. 6 Councillor Bill Hayes asked if he get a further breakdown on the numbers from the Community Safety Officer, to show for instance how many people had run stop signs. Div. 3 Councillor Orest Romanchuk agreed he would like to see those numbers as well.
