The Carlton Crusaders junior boy’s basketball team had a successful weekend.

The Crusaders went 3-0 on their way to finishing first at the Yorkton Tournament. The event brought eight teams from across the province to the city.

On their way to the tournament crown, Carlton defeated Weyburn by a score of 100-41. In their next game they came out on top of Moose Jaw Vanier by a score of 86-25. In the final the Crusaders defeated the host team by over 20 points. The final score was not available.

Junior boy’s coach Curtis Bender said this was the team’s first tournament of the year and he was impressed with their overall performance.

“I thought we got better every game,” he said.

Bender added it was especially nice to have such a strong performance as the tournament featured teams from all over the province. He said along with building confidence, the results show teams from Prince Albert can truly compete.

“This kind of puts us on the map a little bit,” he said.
