New Bus In Town

New bus carrier offering routes from P.A.

Dec 5, 2019 | 12:01 PM

A Saskatoon-based bus company has expanded service to Prince Albert and Regina.

As of Dec. 1, KCTI Travels now offers trips from P.A. to Regina and Saskatoon with same day return. Service is available five days a week.

Since the shuttering of the provincially run STC, several private operators have stepped up to try to fill the gap, but the Prince Albert-Saskatoon route has proved difficult to make economically viable.

KCTI Travels is hoping things will be different for them. The company has been operating a Saskatoon-Edmonton route since 2018, and also has service to smaller cities like North Battleford and Lloydminster.

Manager Jamie Pretty says the new routes were opened in response to customer requests.

“We were getting a lot of phone calls from customers asking if we had a route [from P.A.],” she told paNOW.

“And so we decided there was a need for it and it was a good opportunity to go ahead with it.”

One-way fares between P.A. and Saskatoon are $30, trips to Regina are $60.

Pretty said currently there’s usually around four to six people on the bus each trip, but they’re getting higher booking rates every day.

“We have lots of people who are asking for medical reasons, or people who actually go to Saskatoon and back for work or just to visit family,” said Petty.

“Personally I’m kind of excited, it gets you to the Rider game.”
