House fire in Pelican Narrows claiming two lives not suspicious: RCMP

Two men died as the result of a house fire Nov. 30 in Pelican Narrows.

That’s according to an RCMP media release, which stated officers from the local detachment responded to a house fire on Morin Road at approximately 10:55 a.m. The house was fully engulfed in flames when officers arrived on the scene with the Pelican Narrows Fire Department arriving shortly thereafter.

Officers believe seven or eight people were inside the home at the time of the fire, two of which were children. Officers were informed all but two males exited the home safety.

The Provincial Fire Scene Examiner and Saskatchewan Coroners Service attended the scene to conduct an investigation on Dec. 1. The coroner advised RCMP two bodies were recovered, but no positive identification can be made at this time.

Officers believe the cause of this fire to not be suspicious and Pelican Narrows RCMP is continuing the investigation into the cause of the fire with the assistance of the Saskatchewan Coroners Office and a Provincial Fire Scene Examiner. The scene has been released.
