Website allows for live-tracking of P.A. buses

As Prince Albert residents prepare for the icy embrace of months of freezing temperatures, the city is promoting its bus tracking service as a way to avoid spending too much time out in the cold.

By visiting Transitlivepa.com, riders can view the location of their bus in real time. They can also see when the bus will arrive at any given stop by clicking on its icon, or sign up to receive alerts by text message.

“It’s a simple but very useful application,” transportation and traffic manager Keri Sapsford said in a media release.

“As we head into winter with temperatures dropping it’s nice to know just how close your bus is so you can limit the time you are spending out in the cold.”

The announcement comes as the city makes changes to shelter and bench locations in an attempt to optimize the bus system for users, and fields complaints from seniors tired of waiting outside in frigid conditions.

The Transit Live application has been available in Prince Albert since September. City administration reports that in those two months the website has been viewed over 10,000 times.
