Accused in $100,000 meth bust make first court appearance

One of two men charged following a massive methamphetamine bust in Prince Albert has been released from custody with conditions including abiding by a curfew and not possessing any firearms.

Norman Wenzel, 36, faces a number of drugs and weapons related charges in connection to the incident last Thursday.

The Integrated Street Enforcement Team conducted a search warrant of a vehicle at the 500 Block of 15th St. E.. The police seized 2.7 pounds of meth, a cell phone, a small amount of cash, and score sheets which are used to track drug transactions. Later, the police visited a residence in the 500 Block of 26th St. E to conduct another search warrant where they discovered other drug paraphernalia, a sawed-off shotgun, ammunition, and a digital scale.

Police said the total value of the methamphetamine seized was $100,000.

Wenzel who appeared Monday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court via video link from the Provincial Correctional Centre, has been scheduled to make his next court appearance Nov. 6.

The co-accused, Adam Brown, 32, had his attendance waived for his scheduled hearing Monday and was remanded until his next appearance Nov. 4.
