A local business has made a contribution to support the Rose Garden Hospice.

Friday morning at their offices, Prakash Consulting announced they were making a $10,000 donation. The company’s president, Ravi Prakash said he was motivated to support the hospice for one reason in particular.

“Primary reason, to help people out, those who are in need and the only thing we can do is give [to] them generously,” he said.

Prakash said he thinks a facility like the hospice is needed to support people who are in their final stages of life. He added he is hoping to encourage other people to support the hospice.

Jim Brown, Prakash’s business partner, who also serves on the design committee for the Rose Garden Hospice said having a facility like the hospice is important for a number of reasons. One being that it will help take pressure off the hospital and be better for everyone involved.

“It gives the family a better environment to be able to visit,” he said.

Like Prakash, Brown said he hopes by making the donation, other people will be encouraged to chip in and help the facility become a reality.

“I think the more people like us who donate like this, the people will see the value of it,” he said.

Marina Mitchell, a board member for the Rose Garden Hospice said they are excited about getting the $10,000 gift. She said the donation is overall a positive sign.

“It just means again, one step closer to our goal, once again different businesses within in the community are stepping up,” she said.

Mitchell added it is nice to get a big donation like the one Friday, as it keeps the hospice and their fundraising efforts in the public eye.
