Pink wheels at P.A. fire hall

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In preparation, a newly wrapped pink fire truck was unveiled on Friday at the Prince Albert Fire Hall.

“It’s one of those things that affects everybody,” said firefighter Dave MacAuley. “Everybody has a family member, a friend… it’s something that’s very near and dear to all of our hearts and we want to do our small part to help with the fight and raise a little bit of money for breast cancer research.”

This is the fire hall’s second year with the fundraiser, which runs until Nov. 1. Markit Signs made the colourful upgrade to the vehicle.

For five dollars the public can sign the truck and be entered to win a custom Raiders jersey signed by the team.

The eye-catching vehicle will be at Raiders home games all month. The public can also visit it during the fire hall’s open house on Oct. 6th or drop-in to the station to as long as they call ahead.

“We do want to give time to come see the truck and if you have stories, tell us the stories because last year the breast cancer survivors or people currently fighting that battle, the stories that they came and told us and how much this truck meant to them it just made this whole initiative 100 per cent worth-while,” MacAuley said.
