Adopt a School Program

Sep 22, 2019 | 11:35 AM

We are excited to announce that the following schools in Prince Albert and Muskoday will participate in the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation’s Adopt a School program, running September 14 to October 6, 2019!

  • · West Central Public School adopted by Coles Gateway North Mall
  • · Muskoday First nation Community School adopted by Coles Eastgate Square

This fundraising initiative connects Coles, Chapters and Indigo locations Prince Albert and Muskoday with the above schools and their surrounding community to help provide support for much-needed additional library resources.

With an inadequate library budget of less than $30 per student for the entire year, this local school will now have an opportunity to upgrade its library collection and enrich the lives and education of its students.

This year, 182 Canadian high-needs elementary schools across the country have been “adopted” by local Indigo, Chapters and Coles stores in their communities who will fundraise on their behalf.

Supporters can participate by making a donation in-store or through the Adopt a School registry at indigo.ca.

Each school’s unique registry will consist of 50 books for supporters to shop during the campaign. When a book is purchased from a school’s registry, Indigo will double the impact of each customer’s donation by providing an additional copy of that book to the school, enabling even more children and youth to benefit.

The Indigo Love of Reading Foundation believes that the right book at the right moment can change a child’s life forever. Please let us know if this campaign and the issues around underfunding of Canadian school libraries are a fit for any stories that you’re working on.
