The Prince Albert Raiders added another goaltender to their pre-season roster.

The Raiders signed 2002-born goaltender Carter Serhyenko to a WHL Standard Player Agreement on Friday afternoon, as they prepared for a pre-season game against the Regina Pats in the province’s capital.

“Carter is a big, strong capable goaltender,” Raiders General Manager Curtis Hunt said in a statement. “He came into camp and earned this opportunity.”

Serhyenko, the 6-4, 193-pound netminder with a .900 save percentage and 3.84 goals against average last year with the Battlefords Stars.

The Raiders played their first three pre-season games with Boston Bilous and Brett Balas as their only two goaltenders.

This pre-season, Bilous is 2-0 with a .930 save percentage and 2.00 goals against average. Balas is 0-1 with a .840 save percentage and 4.16 goals against average.

Bilous is far and away the most experienced goaltenders in the Raiders’ system, having appeared in 35 regular season games the past two seasons with the Raiders and the Edmonton Oil Kings. Balas appeared in three games during last year’s campaign. Serhyenko has yet to play with the Raiders past camp.
