A Saskatchewan RCMP officer injured during the pursuit of a suspect last month walked into a Prince Albert court room Friday morning.

The officer, who cannot be named, was actually one of two officers at Prince Albert Provincial Court to observe the scheduled proceedings for Jade Ermine. Ermine who faces 17 charges including possession of stolen property, resisting arrest, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, was arrested August 21 in Prince Albert after a short chase that included him jumping off the roof of the Gateway Mall.

The RCMP officer was injured the previous day during a separate attempt to arrest Ermine north of the city. Outside court the injured officer, who was wearing a walking boot on his left foot, and a cast on his left hand, told paNOW he had spent four days in hospital after suffering a broken hand and torn ligaments in his leg. The officer could not disclose details of how the injury occurred, as that evidence will be part of the upcoming court proceedings.

Ermine’s case was adjourned to Oct.1. His new lawyer requested more time to review the file. Ermine’s attendance at Friday’s hearing was waived.
