Prince Albert’s incumbent member of parliament is ready to seek re-election.

Randy Hoback, who will be seeking his third term in office, cut the ribbon to officially open his campaign office Thursday evening.

Heading into the Oct. 21 federal election Hoback is confident his party is making inroads to voters.

“I think in a lot of people in 2015 toyed around with the idea of voting Liberal thinking that the Liberal Justin Trudeau would be someone like a Paul Martin or a Jean Chrétien and when they realized after voting for him that wasn’t what he was they’re coming back into our camp,” he said.

Hoback said he feels this election is different from 2015 in large part because many people are upset with the prime minister and how he’s handled some files, specifically resource development and trade which has affected farmers.

“They’re willing to come out and help to make sure we do win it,” he said.

In order to return to Ottawa for another term Hoback will have to get past Liberal candidate Estelle Hjertaas, the People’s Party of Canada’s Kelly Day, along with Green Party Candidate Miranda Friske. Hoback said heading into the campaign he is not paying the other candidates much thought.

“They’re going to run their campaigns, I’ll run my campaign, the voters will decide,” he said.

Hoback expressed confidence in his campaign and strategy, which has been successful in the past. Already he and some campaign staff were out putting up signs in Carrot River and Nipawin and have plans to do work all over the riding.

“We’re looking forward, we’re going to run a positive campaign and we’re going to do everything we can to be attractive to everyone,” he said.
