Summit Run raises $16,000 for hospice

Money raised during the Summit Run in June was presented to the Rose Garden Hospice Association on Thursday.

The race brought in $16,000 with just under 500 participants running 2 km, 5 km, 10 km and half marathon distances.

“It was fantastic, it was great to be able to help out a worthwhile cause,” run organizer Lisa Evans told paNOW.

This year marked the 15^th Summit Run. Every year the profits are donated to a local charity. The race previously raised money for the Rotary Trail, but having seen that project to completion, the organizing committee saw the hospice as a natural choice.

“I think one of the things that spoke to us is that as runners we have a certain amount of health and that’s not a guaranteed. So the gift of gratitude and giving forward to those who are in a place where their health needs care, to give back to the community in that way, feels good,” Evans said.
