Watch: Opening ceremonies for Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital

Sep 5, 2019 | 10:00 AM

Nearly five years after a historic groundbreaking, the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital officially opens today. Patients will be moved in at a later date.

Many say it will usher in a new, state-of-the-art chapter for health care across the province.

The hospital was named after the businessman and philanthropist when he made the largest one-time donation in Saskatchewan’s history to a charitable organization – $50 million.

The total cost of the hospital is expected to come in around $285 million.

A ceremony to mark the opening will take place around 10:30 a.m. and include speeches from Premier Scott Moe and Mr. Pattison.

We’ll have live coverage of the event on 1050 CJNB, 102.3 CJNS in Meadow Lake, Beach Radio in Melfort and 900 CKBI in Prince Albert and La Ronge, along with pictures and video of the hospital itself online later today.

Watch the events from Saskatoon live below.

We will have more on this story later today.
