UPDATED: Jade Ermine appeared in court Thursday where matters were held over to a bail hearing Friday at 10 a.m.

A man who was on the run from police, made a daring jump off the roof of Prince Albert’s Gateway Mall, according to Prince Albert’s Chief of Police.

Jon Bergen shared details with paNOW regarding the arrest of Jade Ermine Wednesday morning. Bergen said Ermine was spotted by officers in the mall area, but when he saw the officers coming for him, Ermine proceeded to climb up to the roof of the mall.

“From the roof of the mall, he attempted to jump off and onto a tree and down to the ground where we took him into custody,” Bergen said.

Ermine, 30, who was not injured in the fall, had a number of outstanding warrants and has been connected to a series of assaults and thefts in the Prince Albert area. Bergen said police are well aware of Ermine’s record and trust the courts.

“The Crown will put forward the argument with our concerns about him being released from custody and the lack of compliance with the orders he has been released on,” he said.

An arrest warrant for Ermine was issued earlier this week by RCMP, in connection to a theft from a rural property in the Blaine Lake area. When Ermine had appeared on the Police Service Most Wanted List Aug. 21, he had six charges of breaching court orders.

On Tuesday, RCMP were seen searching an area in the Rural Municipality of Buckland. During the search an RCMP officer was injured but the circumstances surrounding what happened exactly have not been released. Ermine has been scheduled to appear Thursday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court.
