The second best team this at the U19 Men’s Fastpitch Nationals is from Saskatchewan and two of its players call Prince Albert home.

The Delisle Pride, which included Troy Preymack and Ryan Bicknell, lost 14-2 to the Shallow Lake Sting in Sunday’s final in Owen Sound, Ontario. Speaking with paNOW on Tuesday, Preymack described his experience at the tournament as amazing.

“Our team strived to be the best we could be and picked each other up when people [were] down. The big thing with our team is that we were selfless and everyone played for the people beside them on the bench not for themselves,” he said

Delisle was 7-1 after the robin round and faced its only loss later in the final. In the opening game of the playoffs, Preymack did not allow a single run as the Pride shut out the Belmore Sting 5-0. For Preymack, a highlight for him in the tournament was not anything that happened on the field.

“A highlight for me was the whole team staying together at the same house and bonding together. It was an experience I’ll never forget,” he said.

The Shellbrook Rangers were one of two other Saskatchewan teams at the tournament, and finished tied for eighth overall with Quebec. The Saskatoon Selects finished tenth.
