Archery Championships continue; men’s unlimited winner announced

Aug 5, 2019 | 3:00 PM

The 2019 Canadian National Archery Championships in Prince Albert are still in full swing.

The event began last week, and will run until August 11. A number of archery competitions will take place at multiple locations throughout the week.

Cameron Herbert of the Brazeau Bowbenders Archery Club took home first place in the men’s unlimited competition Monday, and had great things to say about the competition.

“I judged well all weekend and I’m very happy to take home first. The courses were really well designed and tough, and the competition was tough,” Herbert said.

“The next step is worlds, three of us from Alberta that are here competing qualified for 3D worlds in Lac La Biche, so that’s a bonus as well.”

Herbert added that the Timberland Bowbenders held a great event ranging from venue, to food, to the general layout of competition.

Stacey Moran, co-chair of the 2019 Canadian National Championships said the weekend had gone off without a hitch.

“Everyone has been giving great reviews, telling us how well it was planned so it’s been great,” said Moran.

“We have the field competition starting tomorrow at the Wildlife Federation, and then the target competition Thursday through Sunday at Red Wing School.”
