RCMP respond to drownings

The RCMP are urging the public to practice proper water safety, following to recent cases of individuals drowning in northern Saskatchewan within two days.

On July 31 officers from the Pelican Narrows RCMP detachment were called to Father’s Lake, following the report of a missing male who had been swimming in front of the rocks and beach area of the lake. A Pelican Narrows RCMP boat was immediately dispatched to the scene.

The missing 28-year-old male was located a short time later by an individual present. EMS and police officers performed CPR but were unsuccessful in reviving the male. The cause of death is not considered suspicious.

On August 1, 2019, police officers from the Green Lake RCMP detachment were called to the the Crown Campground, located on Highway 155.the report of a 67-year-old male who had been located deceased in a small creek near the campground.
