Mother Nature blamed for day long power outage
A spokesperson for Sask Power said roughly 30 customers were impacted by Monday’s power outage, which left some people in the Midtown and East Flat areas in the dark for nearly 12 hours.
Joel Cherry told paNOW a power pole was knocked over on the exhibition grounds, which led to three other poles being damaged. Crews were worked overnight and all four poles had been replaced by Tuesday at noon.
The outage was first reported to Sask Power at 12:53 a.m. Robbie Ross, president of the P.A. Exhibition Association, said a strong wind gust was responsible for knocking over the initial power pole, which had rotted underground. There was a close call for some of the crews setting up for the exhibition, as some of the overhead wiring had come down on the big trucks left parked in the area.
