Youth pleads guilty to stealing front loader for joyride

A 13-year-old boy accused of taking a front loader for a joyride through Prince Albert, is taking responsibility for his actions.

On Wednesday morning, the boy’s legal aid lawyer entered a guilty plea on his behalf at Prince Albert Provincial Court to a charge of a theft of a motor vehicle. A pre-sentence report was ordered and the case was adjourned to August 21.

The incident took place during the evening of June 2. The front loader was stolen from a business in the 3800 block of Fifth Ave. E. Before crashing into the retaining wall at the Conexus Credit Union on Second Ave W, the front loader also hit a parked car on Riverside Drive. There were no injuries during the course of the events.

The youth was also charged with break and enter and operation of a motor vehicle dangerous to the public, which will be dealt with at the next court date.
