The group raising money for the Rose Garden Hospice has received a huge financial boost from a well known Prince Albert pediatrician and his family.

On Wednesday, Dr. Ayaz Ramji donated $20,000 to the project. Ramji told paNOW he felt motivated to make a contribution, and wanted to help get the project off the ground.

“There needs to be a place of dignity and caring for members in the community that are in their final hours and days,” he said.

As of Wednesday, over $3 million was still needed to cover construction costs. The goal has been to have construction start in the spring of 2020. Dr. Ramji has lived in the community for roughly 20 years and said he hopes his donation can inspire others to help out.

“Good things come in Prince Albert but they take a while, and this is a project that is sorely needed,” he said.

In recent weeks, a number of donations have been announced for the Hospice including one from Dr. Randy Friesen. The proceeds from this year’s Summit Run were also donated to the cause.
