A little rain didn’t stop hundreds of competitors and spectators from participating in Prince Albert’s annual Summit Run.

The 15th annual event took place along Rotary Trail, and featured 21km, 10km, 5km, and 2km runs throughout the day. A portion of the proceeds and funds donated by those in attendance from this year’s event will be donated to the Rose Garden Hospice.

Marina Mitchell, chair for the Rose Garden Hospice, told paNOW the importance of the annual event.

“We were graciously chosen as the charity of choice this year, so we receive a portion of funds from registrants and people can also donate online as well,” Mitchell said.

“On top of that, Malcolm Jenkins with Canadian Tire has graciously offered to match all donations made so that is amazing. We hope people keep supporting us and keep getting the word out, that’s our biggest push right now is just awareness.”

Race Director for the Summit Run, Lisa Evans, noted the impressive turnout for the longstanding event.

“We have 482 runners participating today so it’s an amazing turnout,” Evans said. This is the longest-standing run north of Saskatoon and we are really proud of that, it’s grown a lot over the years as well.”
