Dragons prepare for battle at Max Clunie Field

Fresh off a fifth place finish at provincials last weekend, the Sask. Rivers Dragons will be action Wednesday night at Max Clunie Field.

The tournament is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. The Dragons roster was dealt a blow, as one of their key players, Elijah McPherson can no longer play. McPherson suffered a broken collarbone Saturday, during the Dragons game against Notre Dame.

Provincials round up

The Dragons won two games on Saturday and lost two. In their opening round robin game, the Dragons blasted the Scots (from Regina) 41-0. Elijah McPherson led the Dragons with three tries. In their next game, the Dragons faced Notre Dame and lost 41-0. Next up for the Dragons was the quarter-final against the Rogues from Regina, and the Dragons fell 25-10. Aidan Quinton and Thayne Clarke each had one try for the Dragons.

Finally in the fifth/sixth place deciding game, the Dragons faced the second Notre Dame squad, and won 19-5. Austin Belair, Aidan Quinton, Akeem Cappo each had one try. Thayne Clarke had two converts.
