Volunteering in Sask Health Authority’s PA Region

The following are Volunteer Service Opportunities in Big River, Shellbrook, Leask and Canwood for the week of June 3, 2019.

The Volunteer Service Department is in need of caring, compassionate and committed volunteers to fill the following service positions:

Pet Therapy – Parkland Integrated Health Centre, Shellbrook (306) 747-6841

Volunteers with well-trained, friendly pets may visit the residents at the Nursing Homes. The pets must meet the necessary requirements prior to visiting.

Shifts: Once or twice per week: Flexible hours.

On Call” Volunteers – Wheatland Lodge, Leask (306) 466-4949

Extra volunteers are often needed for the long term care residents on an “on-call” basis, to assist with outings, social gatherings, shopping trips, taking residents to appointments, etc.

Friendly Visiting – Whispering Pine Place, Canwood (306) 468-2900

Duties include visiting residents on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, chatting, playing cards, reading, sitting outside with residents, portering residents to activities, and going for walks, etc.

The following are Volunteer Service Opportunities in Kinistino and Birch Hills for the week of June 3, 2019.

The Volunteer Service Department is in need of caring, compassionate and committed volunteers to fill the following service positions:

Parent-Tot Program – Jubilee Lodge, Kinistino (306) 864-2851

Mothers and/or fathers along with their young children may visit residents on a one-to-one basis or in small groups. Parents are responsible for their children at all times.

Shifts: Flexible, once or twice per week.

Entertainment – Birchview Home, Birch Hills (306) 749-3488

Volunteer performers (Musicians, magicians, actors, etc.) share their talents with residents in long-term care. Other volunteers assist by inviting residents to a specific area for entertainment, parties, sing-a-longs, etc. Assist with snacks, lunches, etc.

Meals on Wheels – Birch Hills, Kinistino,

Adult volunteers are needed to assist with delivering meals to Home Care clients.

Shifts: 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Monday – Friday

The following are Volunteer Service Opportunities in Prince Albert and area for the week of June 3, 2019

The Volunteer Services Department is in need of caring, compassionate and committed volunteers to fill the following service positions:

Meals on Wheels – Home Care Prince Albert, Birch Hills, Kinistino

Adult volunteers are needed to assist with delivering meals to Home Care clients.

Shifts: 11:15 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Patient Navigators – Day Surgery – Victoria Hospital

Patient Navigators improve the experience for surgical patients by ensuring they are in the right place at the right time.

Shifts: 6:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.; 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.; On Call

Monday – Friday

Patient Information (Greeter) – Victoria Hospital

Duties include directing patients and visitors to the various departments for treatments, tests, x-rays, or to other destinations in the hospital.

Shifts: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. or 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. & On Call

Monday – Friday

Information Desk Navigator (Greeter) – 1521 Building

Duties include directing clients and the public to the various departments for appointments, or to other destinations within the 1521 Building.

Shifts: Monday – 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Tuesday – Friday 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
