Colors of the rainbow shine bright in Prince Albert

Jun 2, 2019 | 8:29 AM

The streets of Prince Albert were filled with the colors of the rainbow.

Pride Week in the city kicked off Saturday with a Pride Parade that wound its way through the East Hill neighbourhood and ended in Kinsmen Park.

There were a variety of guest speakers including the city’s chief of police Jon Bergen and Nicole Rancourt, the MLA for Prince Albert Northcote.

Last week Mayor Greg Dionne proclaimed May 31 to June 7 as Pride Week in the city.

Events continue Sunday morning with a diversity service at Calvary United Church at 10:30 a.m.

On Tuesday the Mann Art Gallery will host an Indigenous Peoples Artist Collective at 7 p.m. followed by a drumming circle Wednesday night at 6 p.m. at the gazebo located along the eastern riverbank.

On Friday the Queer Coffee event will take place at the Spice Trail.

The special week ends Saturday with a Pride Ride event hosted by the Spin S2DIO. It costs $10 for those interested in participating. All the money raised will go towards Prince Albert Pride.
