People who live in and outside Prince Albert are being invited to drop off their unwanted metal for a good cause.

Students and parents from the St. Mary Travel Club will be collecting junk metal free of charge this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Save On Foods parking lot.

Their goal is to raise money for their 2020 trip to France.

“It’s an educational experience, to allow them to experience the culture of France,” Duane Krip, a parent and volunteer, said.

Krip said the group will accept a wide variety of metal items; rims, barbecues, lawn mowers, electric motors, piping, tubing, wire.

“If you have scrap batteries, definitely bring them down,” Krip said. “They can accumulate on a farm, especially over many years. Bring them down and will take them.”

Once collected, the items will be picked up by McDonald Metals which will recycle them and donate the proceeds back to the club.
