Dragons and Panthers ready for provincials

May 30, 2019 | 2:20 PM

Both the Sask. Rivers Dragons and Prince Albert Panthers will take the field this weekend in Saskatoon at provincials.

The Dragons enter the weekend as the number one seed from the north with a 10-2 record this season, and are coming off a 29-0 win over the Badgers Wednesday night in Saskatoon.

Try scorers were Jonty Kruger (2), Thayne Clarke (1), Parker Elphinstone (1), and Jacob Beauchesne (1). The team’s two conversions were made by Kruger and Beauchesne.

Last season, the young Dragons squad finished second in the league.

In contrast the Prince Albert Panthers have never been to provincials, and will enter as the underdogs. Last Saturday, Prince Albert’s female rugby team competed at the annual Rugby Day in Warman. They lost to Lashurn in the semi, but then defeated the Razorbacks to finish third out of six teams.
