May 27, 2019 | 8:28 AM

Not only is junk metal an eyesore, it’s bad for the environment and a potential hazard!

The students of St. Mary High School have stepped up to help the environment by spearheading a free junk metal disposal day on Saturday June 1st.

They are encouraging the public to make June 1st a junk metal clean up day!

The students have organized central collection point in the parking lot of Save On Foods on June 1st between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.am and 5pm.

City and rural residents can drop off for disposal anything and everything metal.

It’s free of charge!

Bring your old batteries, rims, bbq’s, lawn mowers, electric motors, piping, tubing, wire are just a few examples of items that can be dropped off for disposal.

This is an opportunity of resident to save money by avoiding the fee a landfill would charge for disposal of these items.
