Garage Sales

City reminds of garage sale rules

May 25, 2019 | 2:00 PM

Did you know that no more than three garage sales are permitted on any site in a calendar year, and the sales can not run longer than three consecutive days?

The Prince Albert Police Service wants to remind residents about the rules around garage sales in the city, now that warmer weather is on the horizon.

Garage sales must be conducted by the resident of the home, or the non-profit group or community association hosting the sale, according to a press release.

Residents are allowed to advertise their garage sale using signs, but these signs must follow several guidelines:

· Garage/yard sale signs cannot be posted on public property, such as city boulevards, sidewalks, light standards, trees, mailboxes or intersections

· Signs are also not permitted on public highways

· Signs cannot be blocking sightlines

· Signs must not be in the shape of traffic ‘STOP’ or ‘YIELD’ signs, or any directional signage.

Rules for garage sales fall under the City of Prince Albert’s Zoning Bylaw. Residents can be ticketed by bylaw enforcement for any violations of garage sale regulations.
