Ten Years Strong in Support of Mentoring Kinds

Preparations are underway for the 10th Annual “Diva For A Day” Ladies Golf Tournament & Caddie Auction which will be held at Kachur’s Golf Club on June 6th and 7th to raise funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Prince Albert’s mentoring programs.

“This is our diamond anniversary Diva and we are so excited. It’s a day of pampering for the women who golf, but it is an important day for us too.” says Big Brothers Big Sisters Development Coordinator, Natasha Thomson. “The success of this event has allowed us to continue to operate our mentoring programs for local children and youth in Prince Albert.”

In its early years ‘Diva For A Day’ was held at Cooke Municipal Golf Course but this unique 11 hole tournament moved out to Kachur’s in 2015 where it continues to thrive.

One of the big highlights of the event is the caddie auction party in which Schmalz Auctions helps out by sending an auctioneer to conduct a live auction for the volunteer caddies to be sold to the teams. “These caddies sell for hundreds, sometimes thousands, of dollars!

It’s amazing to watch this auction unfold” says Thomson. All proceeds from the event will go to support Big Brothers Big Sisters matching of local children aged 6-16 with volunteer mentors who inspire them to achieve their potential. This helps young people succeed in the community and do better at school.

Research into BBBS programs show the results can last a lifetime. When compared to peers, former participants have higher levels of education, earn higher incomes and give back more to community through volunteering and charitable giving.

Every $1 invested in BBBS mentoring returns $18 to society. There is still space for teams to golf in the event and volunteers are also needed.
