A special delivery on Mother’s Day

For many people living in the Montreal Lake and Timber Bay areas, Glen Henderson has become somewhat of a legend for a tradition he started over a decade ago.

Every Mother’s Day, for the past 15 years, Henderson hand delivers roses to mothers in the communities. The gesture represents an acknowledgement of the sacrifices and hard work they do for their children.

“I started with my sisters and close friends, and then all of a sudden I started buying more for other mothers,” he said.

When Henderson started out he bought two dozes roses, but this year he bought 18 dozen roses. With his grandchildren, Henderson made deliveries throughout the day Sunday. When asked how he chooses his recipients, Henderson said he just goes up to the door and asks how many mothers are in the house.

“I just say ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ and they are always very appreciative,” he said. “They like it and I don’t mind doing it.”
