Prince Albert youths gathered to make their moms special gifts Saturday at the John M. Cuelenaere Public Library ahead of Mother’s Day.

The drop-in craft session saw more than a dozen youngsters fashioning Mother’s Day gifts with simple materials such as Popsicle sticks, according to Sonia Singla the Programs Services clerk with the library.

“The kids are using Popsicle sticks and buttons to make a little house, with the theme being that ‘home is where mom is’,” she said.

“They are able to write whatever they want to say to their mom on the house as well. With the parents we have about 25 people here.”

Singla noted the crafts made available were easy to make for a variety of ages, adding they have had toddlers participate in events such as these.

Donna Gelysteen was in attendance with her granddaughter Paityn, who was visiting from Regina.

Gelysteen said the library is a great place for families to participate in activities together, and said every time her granddaughter visits they make a stop there.

“Every time she visits we just have to come by the library, it’s her favourite thing to do. So we picked up some books and now we’re doing some crafts, it’s a great time,” Gelysteen said.

“We’re all covered in glue so I guess that means it’s all going well. We love it here, we constantly check in to see what’s going on.”
