Wanted: Raiders playoff tickets

May 1, 2019 | 5:00 PM

The hottest ticket is town this week is a ticket to a Raiders playoff game this weekend, and according to some social media posts, there are some people willing to pay as much as $500 for a pair of tickets.

The team’s business manager, Michael Scissons, told paNOW he will not be putting too much effort into watching online activity for scalping but cautioned people against it.

“If you are going to take the risk and buy a ticket from somebody other than the Raiders, make sure that ticket is in hand and do it in a person-to-person exchange because we would feel terrible if someone got taken in order to try and come out to a game,” he said.

Within the Prince Albert Raiders Talk Facebook group, one posting encouraging ticket requests has had over 120 responses. One person was offering a standing room ticket for $35. Scissons cautioned people to also be be leary of tickets that appear to be photocopied, or people who will offer to transfer tickets online as the Raiders system does not allow for the email transfer of tickets.

“I know that they are a hot ticket in town and at the end of the day we just want to make sure people are careful about what they are investing in,” he said.

Tickets for games of one and two of the WHL final went on sale Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. and by 10 a.m. there was standing room only available. Outside of searching for online deals, there are other ways fans can still get their hands on tickets. A number of local businesses in town are offering ticket giveaways including O.K. Tire and Auto Service. Owner Colin Fraser said the excitement around the team has been phenomenal.

“I think the fan base following the Raiders is far larger than the arena holds in fans,” he said. “There are so many people watching online and streaming.”

Fraser, who is also a Raiders board member, said he personally has had a number of calls from people asking if he can give them tickets.

“Well no, I can’t get you tickets; they are sold out,” he said.
