Candle Lake to get improvements from SaskTel

The Resort Village of Candle Lake will be getting some improvements to their SaskTel services.

The Crown Corporation announced Candle Lake will be the beneficiary of SaskTel expanding their DSL Internet services in the area.

“[The] announcement is yet another example of SaskTel’s commitment to delivering their advanced and reliable communication services to all corners of our province,” Don Morgan, the minister responsible for SaskTel said in a release. “I also applaud the people of Candle Lake for taking a proactive approach to work with SaskTel to bring internet service to their community.”

According to Candle Lake’s Mayor, Borden Wasyluk, the upgrades will not only help the Internet in the area, but the cell service as well.

“Our cell service at best, especially during the summer months, is quite marginal,” Wasyluk told northeastNOW. “This will allow us to be competitive with any city for that matter. You’ll be able to do your business from here.”

Residents of the area will get a choice of their Internet speed and Wasyluk added services will be hardwired on all the properties. As for the provincial parks, and other areas of Candle Lake, there will be pedestals and towers helping with the services.

Wasyluk said he hopes this is the beginning of continued improvements in the area.

“Any new technology that comes into Candle Lake at some point will be able to update, or it will be enhanced,” he said.

Construction for the new services is expected to begin in Spring 2020 and is expected to be complete by the end of that summer.
