Easter Sunday

Celebrating life, death and resurrection

Hundreds came together Sunday at Prince Albert’s Sacred Heart Cathedral for Easter Mass, to celebrate the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.

A French service was held at 9:30 a.m., with an English service at 11 a.m. The services focused heavily on the idea of resurrection – both the resurrection of Jesus, and how those with faith will be resurrected after death to be with God.

Father Roque Concepcion with Sacred Heart said it was a message that has echoed through our lives.

“Easter Sunday is the biggest day in the Christian faith, because it is the victory of the Lord,” he said. “It is the victory over evil and death and we want to celebrate that.”

Father Roque noted the importance of Jesus’ resurrection, and those who followed him. He added that in the faith, followers will experience a similar fate – death, and resurrection to be united with God.

“Passion, death and resurrection. In our life, we pass through these things. The Passion is suffering, no matter your faith, it is unavoidable that we will all suffer,” he said.

“Death is next. This could be sacrifice, this could be letting go, because when we let go, we let God. Resurrection…that is God. When we feel that we are blessed with God.”
