The 2019 CIBC Canada-Russia Series will be making a stop in Prince Albert on Thursday, Nov. 14.

Held annually in six cities across the country, the series features CHL regional league teams comprised of Canadian National Junior Team Candidates against the Russian National Junior Team as a part of the evaluation process ahead of the world junior tournament.

The series will start with two games between the QMJHL and Russia in New Brunswick, held in Saint John and Moncton on Monday, Nov. 4 and Tuesday, Nov. 5. This will be followed by two games between the OHL and Russia in Ontario, with games played in Kitchener and London on Thursday, Nov. 7 and Monday, Nov. 11. Finally, the Russians come West to face the WHL first in Saskatoon on Wednesday, Nov. 13 and Prince Albert on Thursday, Nov. 14.

Prince Albert last hosted the event in 2008 with Team WHL earning a 2-1 victory at the Art Hauser Centre. That year’s WHL roster featured Raider forward Dustin Cameron as well as Prince Albert native Joel Broda and Minto alum Dustin Tokarski.

In the 2018 event, the Raiders were well represented with Ian Scott, Parker Kelly, and Brett Leason all suiting up for a pair of games in Kamloops and Langley.
