Volunteer Opportunities In Health Care

The following are Volunteer Service Opportunities in Prince Albert and area for the week of April 8, 2019

The Volunteer Services Department is in need of caring, compassionate and committed volunteers to fill the following service positions:

Mental Health Inpatient – Victoria Hospital

Volunteers will assist selected adult clients and children as needed. Duties may include assisting with recreational programs including arts and crafts, etc.

Shifts: Flexible

Social Detox Centre –Victoria Hospital

Volunteers will assist the staff with specific activities and tasks as needed. Duties include visiting, playing cards, board games, reading, listening to music with clients as well as adding quality to the lives of the clients.

Shifts: Flexible – 1 to 3 hours per week

Information Desk Navigator (Greeter) – 1521 Building

Duties include directing clients and the public to the various departments for appointments, or to other destinations within the 1521 Building.

Shifts: Monday – 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Tuesday – Friday 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Lab Services Center – Prince Albert

Volunteer greeters assist patients and family members arriving for tests at the center in the South Hill Mall. These volunteers put patients at ease and ensure they are in the proper location to be called for their tests.

Shifts: 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

Monday – Friday: Once per week.

Patient Information (Greeter) – Victoria Hospital

Duties include directing patients and visitors to the various departments for treatments, tests, x-rays, or to other destinations in the hospital.

Shifts: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. or 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. Monday – Friday and On Call Volunteers

Pet Therapy – Jubilee Lodge – Kinistino (306) 864-2851

Volunteers with well-trained, friendly pets may visit the residents at the Nursing Homes. The pets must meet the necessary requirements prior to visiting.

Shifts: Once or twice per week: Flexible hours.

Friendly Visiting – Birchview Home – Birch Hills (306) 749-3488

Duties include visiting residents on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, chatting, playing cards, reading, sitting outside with residents, portering residents, taking residents to functions, shopping trips, walking residents and Elders.

Shifts: 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Monday – Sunday: Flexible: Once or twice per week.
