Women in P.A. group accused of robbery back in court

The two women among the group of four people accused in a string of robberies, including in Prince Albert, returned to court this week.

Twenty-three-year-old Tonisha Fulton and 22-year-old Rikki Steinkey appeared in Melfort Provincial Court on Tuesday, April 9 in person and via video respectively.

Candace Bodnar, a defence lawyer for Legal Aid Saskatchewan, told Judge D. Albert Lavoie Steinkey’s case involving her charges in Prince Albert, which includes armed robbery and party to offence of robbery, will be taken over by Crystal Eninew. Steinkey will appear via video in Prince Albert Provincial Court on April 18.

Steinkey’s case from charges in Jansen and Spalding will continue to be in Melfort Provincial Court with her next appearance on April 23.

Fulton elected to be tried in Melfort Queen of Court’s Bench in front of a judge alone. Her preliminary inquiry hearing will be in Melfort Provincial Court Aug. 1.

Fulton was released on bail back on March 14, while Judge Barry Singer denied Steinkey’s release on March. 28.

The charges stem from incidents on March 4 when a group of four allegedly robbed a Prince Albert gas station with a firearm, then travelled to Jansen and Spalding where the group is alleged to have attempted further robberies. All were arrested south of Invermay.

Dorion Loessel and Brandon Peeteetuce, the two 20-year-old males among the accused, will appear in Melfort Provincial Court on April 16.
