Game 1 preview for Raiders and Blades

Apr 5, 2019 | 2:00 PM

Whether you’re heading to the Art Hauser Centre, tuning in to CKBI or watching the game on Sportsnet, here’s some info to chew on heading into Game 1 of the Prince Albert Raiders, Saskatoon Blades playoff series.

Record breakers

In their first meeting this year on Sept. 30, the Raiders beat the Blades 4-1 and set a franchise record for the fastest three goals scored. Justin Nachbaur, Ozzy Wiesblatt and Parker Kelly all scored with 16 seconds of each other to pull away with the win.

Head-to-head

The Raiders won the season series 6-2 over the Blades this year. They won all four games at the Art Hauser Centre, and snapped an 0-14-1 streak in the SaskTel Centre this year by going 2-2.

Gre-goals

Raiders forward Noah Gregor has absolutely feasted on the Blades this season. He has nine goals against the Blades this year. That’s more than any Blade has points against the Raiders this season.

Gerlach Attack

Max Gerlach has been the standout for the Blades, with three goals and seven points. Gerlach also scored five goals in the Blades’ four-game sweep over the Warriors in the first round to lead the team in both goals and points this postseason.

Kirb your enthusiasm

Despite being one of the top scoring Blades, Kirby Dach has never scored a goal against the Raiders in his career outside of the preseason. Dach has been held goalless in 16 games against the Raiders in his career.

Goalie watch

Ian Scott has a 4-2 record against the Blades in goal, with a .938 save percentage and 1.68 goals against average. The now-departed Donovan Buskey was 2-0 against the Blades.

Blades starter Nolan Maier has credit for both Blades’ wins against Prince Albert this year, with a 2-2 record with a .891 save percentage and 3.45 goals against average. Dorrin Luding has four appearances for the Blades, with a 0-3 record with a .904 save percentage and 3.31 goals against average.
