Nominations open for Terry Fox Award

The City of Prince Albert is once again accepting nominations for the annual Terry Fox Award.

The award recognizes local young citizens who are role models in the community, exhibit perseverance and dedication, and exemplify the traits of the late Terry Fox. The city has given the award out each year since 1981.

The award is open to city residents under the age of 21. Jody Boulet, director of community services with the city, said the award is presented to a person who contributes to the local community despite their own personal challenges.

“A lot of what we see in previous recipients of the award are really remarkable individuals,” Boulet said. “When you consider the challenges that they face on a daily basis, but then the positivity that they show and display in the community, it’s really just amazing and it’s really worth recognizing each year.”

Nominations for the annual award are open until June 28. Nomination forms can be picked up at City Hall or found online on the city’s website.

The award will be presented at a city council meeting in September.
