Canadian cyclist Mike Woods signs new contract, looks to add to win column
Canadian Mike Woods has signed a multi-year deal to stay with EF Education First Pro Cycling.
Woods enjoyed a banner season last year, finishing second at the historic Liege-Bastogne-Liege one-day race in Belgium, winning his first Grand Tour stage at the Spanish Vuelta and earning bronze at the 2018 Road World Championships in Austria.
“I came to the team not knowing who I was as a cyclist and what I was capable of … I had no experience in the (UCI) WorldTour when I joined the team, but JV (team CEO Jonathan Vaughters) said I could win an Ardennes Classic,” Woods said in a statement, referencing the race trilogy made up of the Amstel Gold Race, La Fleche Wallonne and Liege–Bastogne–Liege.
