Bears’ backs against the wall after Game 2 loss to Hounds

Mar 9, 2019 | 10:15 PM

The Prince Albert Northern Bears are in a 2-0 hole in their best-of-five Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League opening playoff series against the Notre Dame Hounds.

The Hounds won Game 2 by a score of 5-1 Saturday in Wilcox, and are now one win away from eliminating the Bears for the postseason.

The Hounds had a 3-0 lead after 40 minutes with goals from Sophie Young, Claire Nimegeers and Ally Kosteniuk.

Jadyn Kushniruk stopped the bleeding for the Bears in the third period, but Nimegeers got her second of the game with six minutes remaining, leading to an empty netter from Lyndsey Janes late.

The Bears will look to keep their playoff hopes alive at the Art Hauser Centre on Monday for Game 3. That game will start at 7 p.m. at the Art Hauser Centre.
