A well-known local business owner is being recognized by the business community.

Roses Stewart was named this year’s recipient of the Prince Albert & District Chamber of Commerce Legacy Award. Stewart has lived in Prince Albert since 1975 and started her business, Victoria Square Compounding Pharmacy, in 1994. The pharmacy now includes a team of medical specialists and a coffee shop near the local hospital.

Chamber CEO Elise Hildebrandt said Stewart’s work in Prince Albert is a model for the local business community and led growth in the city.

“We reviewed and felt that she was a good strong person who has helped Prince Albert be put on the map a little bit better in the medical world,” Hildebrandt said. “That’s what the Legacy Award is all about; it recognizes the people who have helped build the foundation on where our community sits.”

The Legacy Award is handed out each year to recognize a long-time local business owner. Stewart will be honoured at a brunch at the Coronet Hotel March 21. The event will also be a kickoff to the Chamber’s annual Samuel McLeod Business Awards. Finalists for the Chamber’s various business awards will also be announced at the Legacy Brunch, ahead of the Chamber’s annual business awards gala in April.
