Saskatchewan has 12 medals so far at the Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, and almost half of those have come from Prince Albert and the surrounding area.

Kryztle Shewchuk has three of those herself. In the Cross Country Skiing Para-Nordic Sitting events, Shewchuk earned bronze medals in 5 km, 2.5 km and sprint races.

Jannessa Keays earned a bronze medal in judo, earning third place in the 70 kg and over category.

And Ashlyn Schmitz may only be 12, but the Shellbrook figure skater earned a bronze medal in the pre-novice pairs event alongside Wolseley’s Tristan Taylor.

The Team Saskatchewan women’s hockey team is prepping for their quarterfinal game against Ontario at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Team Sask includes Prince Albert’s Abby Soyko, and three other Prince Albert Northern Bears in Kate Ball, Miranda Heidt and Jadyn Kushniruk.

The finished the group stages with a 1-2 record, falling to Manitoba 3-0, beating New Brunswick 7-1 and losing 7-3 to Quebec.
