Silvernagle into playoffs after huge win over Ontario
Saskatchewan’s Robyn Silvernagle needed a big win Friday to get into the playoffs at the 2019 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, in her last Championship Pool game in Sydney, N.S.
She got exactly that as her North Battleford-based team beat Ontario’s Rachel Homan 6-3. With the win, Silvernagle improved to second place and will qualify for the playoffs in her first Scotties appearance.
Silvernagle and rink of Stefanie Lawton, who grew up in Prince Albert, Alberta’s Jessie Hunkin and Prince Albert’s Kara Thenevot will play in the 1-2 game against Chelsea Carey and Team Alberta on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. The winner of that heads straight to the finals at 4 p.m. on Sunday. The loser will play in the semifinals, against the winner of Ontario and Northern Ontario.
