Team Sask boys to play for bronze at Canada Winter Games

Team Saskatchewan men’s hockey team will play for a bronze medal at the Canada Winter Games.

Team Sask, which is loaded with local talent like Gabe Klassen, Marek Schneider, Ashton Ferster and Logan Cox, who all are from Prince Albert and play with their Midget AAA hockey with the Prince Albert Mintos. It also includes two Prince Albert Raiders prospects in Nolan Allan and Logan Linklater.

Team Sask fell in the semifinals 6-3 to Quebec, with Ferster scoring a goal and Cox getting an assist. Ferster has two goals and a helper in the tournament so far. They will move on to play for the bronze medal on Friday against either Alberta or Ontario.

Here’s how the rest of the local boys shape up on Team Sask through five games of the tournament.

A few more locals have wrapped up events. Jessie Georget, who’s from Domremy and trains out of the Prince Albert Aerials Gymnastics Club, finished in fifth place in men’s gymnastics vault. He finished with 13.050 points. Also on Monday, Georget and the rest of Team Sask’s gymnastics team, finished just out of the medals in fourth place in the team event.

La Ronge’s Michio Green has been busy in biathlon. He finished in fifth in the team event on Wednesday, as well as 13th in the 7.5 km sprint, 14th in the 12.5 km race and 17th in the 10 km pursuit.
