For the second day in a row Prince Albert temperatures have dipped into record breaking territory.

At 8 a.m. Environment Canada listed Prince Albert’s ambient temperature as -44.6 degrees Celsius.

According to Environment Canada meterologist, Terri Lang the temperature broke the old record by a couple of degrees.

The former record was -42.8 C in 1899, Lang said.

Yesterday in Prince Albert, temperatures dropped to -44.2 C — breaking another record from 1895.

Lang said a few more days of extreme cold are expected, but said relief along with warmer temperatures is on the way.

“Late Sunday into Monday, there are some systems moving in that will bring cloud and relative warmth,” she said.

The average high for Feb. 8, is -9 Celsius. The average low is -21 C.
