Fans of outdoor sports such as skiing and snowmobiling will be happy with the latest warning from Environment Canada.
A storm system is pushing through the province with the main system arriving Friday night.
Brad Vrolijk, a Lead forecaster with Environment Canada, said Prince Albert will be on the northern tip of the storm.
“(P.A. will) probably see, when all is said and done on Saturday night, somewhere between 10 to15 cm of snow from this system,” Vrolijk said. Accompanying the snow will be 30 to 40 km/h winds. “Those winds will be enough to create blowing snow and probably some pretty poor visibility in spots during the event.”
If travelling is in your weekend plans, expect to be delayed by the weather.
Vrolijk said the heart of the storm is expected to be centered on the Yellowhead corridor, which includes Lloydminster, North Battleford, Saskatoon and Yorkton.
“That area will most likely receive 15 to 25 cm. There are some indications that there could be some heavier bands within there that produce local amounts up to 30 cm,” he said.
Vrolijk encouraged drivers to keep a winter safety kit in their vehicles and to avoid travel if they don’t need to be on the roads.
