NuvoMedic makes pitch for cannabis production facility
A local company is making a pitch to Prince Albert city council in hopes of building the city’s first cannabis production facility.
NuvoMedic Canna Consulting applied to develop a cannabis production facility at 85 11th St. NW. In a fact sheet provided to city council, the company’s founder and president, Jamie Novotny, said the production facility known as NuvoPharms would be a “full seed to sale Health Canada federally licensed production facility.”
The company is proposing a 47,000-square-foot facility north of the river, at the former site of P.A. Bottlers. The production facility would create about 60 new jobs, the company says, and inject about $15 million into the local economy during the development phase.
“The facility would produce the highest quality grade organic medicinal standard product on the market,” the letter added. “With an ownership group of local and national investors, the proposed ‘NuvoPharms’ facility is an excellent opportunity for Prince Albert to engage in the growing cannabis economy.”
