Blaine Lake Distillery makes splash on international stage

A Saskatchewan Distillery located between Prince Albert and The Battlefords is enjoying the sweet taste of success and aims to expand further.

Blaine Lake based Radouga Distilleries, which recently claimed more international accolades, aims to add to their 10 full-time staff in 2019. They also have staff  in California and B.C.

Operations Manager Lawrence Eberle said their growth and success allowed them to begin a 44,000 square foot expansion.

“We have nothing but the people of Saskatchewan to thank for that,” he told paNOW.

The company began as a two-man operation in the latter part of 2014. CEO Paul Riben and one employee began by brewing Paul’s Apple Pie liqueur. Since then, Radouga won multiple awards for their spirits and the company expanded to become one of the largest micro-distilleries in Saskatchewan.

One of Radouga’s featured products is Provincial Vodka. Eberle said the vodka has placed very well in international competitions and it won a platinum award at the prestigious 2018 California SIP Awards. That platinum designation is the highest ranking at the consumer based competition.

“In the three years we’ve actively been entering competitions we’ve won 13 awards. In 2015 we actually got a silver in the New York International Wine and Spirts Competition and the year after we won a gold medal,” Eberle said.

 “Our water comes from an inter-glacial aquifer, which is the most clean and pure source of water that is free of chemicals. This is a big competitive advantage for us because it allows us to make a very premium product at very affordable price point,” Eberle said.

The company aims to soon add gin and whisky to its vodka and liqueur products.
